Agrofood innovation, crossborder cooperation, conscious consumption, circular economy and sustainability in the close out event of InnoNets project
Online on 14th October (h 15 CET) the initiative organized by Apulia Region and ARTI, with all the partners of the Interreg Greece-Italy european project
October, 12th 2020 - On Wednesday 14th October 2020 (h 15.00 – 17.00 CET) the final event and press conference of the InnoNets project - Innovative Networks for the Agrifood sector will be held online.
The event, that will be held in English language, is organized by Puglia Region – Department of Economic development, innovation, education, training and employment, which is partner of the project with the support of ARTI – Apulia Region Agency for Technology and Innovation and InnovaPuglia, in cooperation with all the partners, namely Region of Ionian Island (lead partner), Polytechnic University of Bari, Corfu Chamber of Commerce, Regional League of Cooperatives and Mutuality of Puglia.
During the event the results obtained in two years through the project, funded by the Interreg Greece-Italy 2014 - 2020 Programme, will be presented, and the initiative will be also an opportunity to discuss about innovation in the agri-food sector, and in particular on conscious consumption, circular economy and sustainability, through three thematic sessions: “Conscious consumption and local agri-food practices”, “Food circular economy and regional sustainability strategies”, “Mediterranean interregional networking and EU green deal”.
The InnoNets project main objective is that of promoting territorial cooperation between Apulia Region and the Region of the Ionian Islands (in Greece) in the agri-food sector, focusing on processes to facilitate innovation in favor of small and medium-sized enterprises, pursued with living thematic labs that involved research organizations, SMEs, local government bodies and civil society.
After the introduction by Crescenzo Antonio Marino, director of the Research, innovation and institutional capacity Section of Apulia Region and Gianfranco Gadaleta, coordinator of the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg VA Greece-Italy Programme, innovation and cross-border cooperation in the agri-food sector will be at the center of the speech by Konstantinos Kapodistrias, Region of Ionian Islands, Deputy Governor for E-Government and EU Programmes, InnoNets lead partner. Then, Valeria Patruno, on behalf of Apulia Region/ARTI, Carmelo M. Torre, professor at the Polytechnic of Bari, Nickolaos Chirdaris, first vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Corfu, Pavlos Filippidis, Corfu Chamber of Commerce external expert and Katia De Luca, on behalf of Legacoop Puglia, will illustrate the results of the project, then there will be the space for questions from journalists. The initiative is moderated by Carlo Gadaleta Caldarola, ARTI project manager.
After the plenary session, the event will go on with three simultaneous thematic sessions. The first one, “Conscious consumption and local agri-food practices”, is coordinated by Alessandro Bonifazi on behalf of the Polytechnic of Bari and Pavlos Filippidis, Corfu Chamber of Commerce external expert; Alexandros Papachatzis, professor of innovative sustainable agricultural production at the University of Thessaly, and Francesco Scorza, professor at the University of Basilicata (associated partner in the InnoNets project of the Polytechnic of Bari) will participate.
In the second thematic session, "Circular economy of food and regional sustainability strategies", coordinated by Valeria Patruno of ARTI, and Gaetano Grasso of InnovaPuglia, will be attended by Georgios D. Antoniou, expert in environmental policies and management, Carmela Cotrone, Campania Region, leader of the Interreg MED MD.Net project, Marco Costantino, of Avanzi Popolo 2.0.
In the third thematic room “Mediterranean interregional networking and EU green deal”, Caterina De Lucia of the University of Foggia (for Legacoop) and Maria Gounara, Epsilon Development Consultant, member of the technical assistance (for the Region of Ionian Islands) will discuss with Maria Vrasida, of EGTC - European group for territorial cooperation, Roberto Paladini of Innovaction Soc.Coop. - company that deals with community composting and sustainable processes, Athanasios Exarchos, local development consultant.
